Dental Bridges

One or more missing teeth can adversely affect the appearance and functionality of your smile. Missing teeth can cause a change in occlusion (bite), shifting of the teeth, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), speech impediments, an increased risk for periodontal disease and a greater chance of tooth decay. A dental bridge is a prosthesis used to replace a missing tooth or several missing teeth.

Dental Fillings

When decay penitrates and breaks down the enamel layer of a tooth, a dental filling may be needed to restore the tooth back to its original form and function.

Dental Crowns

Here at Gentle Dental, we wanted a way to provide a vastly superior crown experience, with the smallest amount of time possible required from the patient. The solution: The CEREC Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics is a dental CAD/CAM system that can create restorations in hours instead of weeks.

What Are Dental Crowns?

A crown is a replacement covering for a broken down tooth. It is a type of cap that restores the tooth back to its original form and function.

The CEREC Crown Process

Your tooth will first be scanned to capture the detail of the original tooth structure, and its position in your dentition. The original tooth will be shaped and prepared to facilitate the new restoration.  The new restoration will be milled and finished in the office. After completion, the new crown will be polished and bonded onto your natural tooth.

  • Longevity

Crowns are durable and with proper hygiene they may last 10-30 years.

  • Protection

Many dental issues are a product of attrition; Crowns are a great way to offer protection to any teeth that become vulnerable to accelerated decay or wear.

  • Appearance

Crowns are able to be replicas of natural teeth, allowing teeth to be restored, while maintaining your original smile.

  • Comfort

Properly-timed crown restorations, before decay or other issues advance, can help mitigate nerve and sensitivity issues.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is an artificial root upon which a manufactured tooth can be placed. Implants are used to support the replacement of a single tooth, multiple teeth, or larger prostheses such as dentures, depending on the individual’s requirements and condition.

Placement of the implant stabilizes bone levels and may prevent bone loss, resulting in greater long-term support, function, and esthetics.

Implants are a superior way to replace missing teeth, as they do not require alteration of adjacent teeth. They are also an excellent way to stabilize a denture.

While a missing tooth will obviously cause problems in regards to chewing, speaking and poor esthetics, missing teeth will also result in very serious problems like tooth shifts, jawbone deterioration, facial structure loss and bite imbalances when left untreated. These issues usually develop over time when there is no root system to maintain bone health and alignment. Dental implants provide an artificial root system to maintain order and keep the remaining teeth in line.

Implants not only help a patient overcome short-term challenges; they can also prevent long-term problems linked to tooth loss. They are the most effective method for treating tooth loss because dental implants serve as an artificial root system for supporting a prosthetic tooth and allow replacement teeth to feel more natural

Dentures & Partial Dentures

Dentures are used to replace missing teeth or damaged teeth that cannot be otherwise repaired. A complete denture is used to replace missing teeth for people with no remaining teeth.

Dentures may also be used for people who have lost several teeth. In this case, the appliance is called a partial or overdenture.

Tooth loss may result from periodontal disease (gum disease), tooth decay, or traumatic injury.  It is very important to replace missing teeth. The ill effects of not doing so can be a shift in remaining teeth, an inability to bite and chew properly, as well as a sagging facial appearance, which makes one appear older than they are.

The beauty of today’s dentures is that they are designed to be comfortable and functional. They are very similar in appearance to natural teeth, and can improve a smile or facial appearance.

To enhance the functionality of a denture at Gentle Dental, we attach the denture to implants that fix it in place.

Implant-Retained Dentures

Dental implants can be used to retain dentures for a more secure feel and fit.

Implant-retained dentures can be removed, but are less likely to slip, slide, or click out of place. You can eat your favorite foods and attend social gatherings without worrying about your dentures.

In addition to offering permanent-feeling dentures, implant-retained dentures also provide added health benefits. When you lose teeth, you lose jaw support. Implants can restore that support and keep your face looking youthful.

Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Therapy removes infected pulp tissue within the root chamber of the tooth. The hollowed-out tooth is filled with an antibacterial filling, and the tooth is “capped” with a crown for protection.

Certain signs may indicate that you have a diseased tooth or infected nerve and therefore may need a root canal. These signs include: minimal to severe pain, tooth discoloration, swelling and irritation in the surrounding gum tissue, signs of infection visible on a radiograph, significant or severe temperature sensitivity and the inability to bite on tooth.
